NIST Announced yesterday the appointments made to the Scientific Area Committees (SACs) of the OSAC - you can see the list of appointees here http://www.nist.gov/forensics/sac-members-announcement.cfm.

Congratulations to a number of friends of SWGDE that were appointed, but especially to current member and Audio committee chair Mike Piper, as well as former SWGDE Chair and founding member Mark Pollitt!!  It is very good news to see some of our own selected to participate.

>> Digital Evidence and the OSAC

In light of the previous announcement we shared regarding the Deputy Attorney General's directive that Digital Evidence (DE) would now be included in the NCFS and OSAC effort, I can unofficially tell you that the OSAC met to approve the incorporation of Digital Evidence, and a formal announcement is expected soon.  With that comes new opportunities for persons from the Digital Evidence community (more properly referred to as the Digital and Multimedia Evidence, or DME community) to serve on the OSAC and/or the Subcommittee(s) that will deal with the specific disciplines.   Therefore this is a call to all those who want to partake to apply at the following link: https://www.nist.gov/forensics/osac-application.cfm - I just checked and the addition of Digital Evidence Subcommittee has already been added.  Also an important note…. even if you already applied during the original call back in April, please submit a new application since Digital Evidence was not previously available for selection.  By choosing the DE subcommittee option it will separate your application into the proper category when they go to review.  There will be a closing date of September 30 for all applications.
